One Million Trees Campaign

A simple act can alter the face of the earth – plant more trees. Live to Love is a grassroots driven organization that empowers communities to create sustainable solutions and serve as guardians of the Himalayas. Live to Love mobilizes tens of thousands of people to reforest Ladakh – a cold desert of the Indian Himalayas – to protect their homes and villages.

Rapid development and climate change induced flash floods are wreaking havoc in Ladakh by washing out entire communities. Trees prevent these disasters by acting as retaining walls, offsetting carbon footprint, cooling temperatures and preventing landslides. Under the Live to Love’s One Million Trees campaign, the volunteers planted 55,000 trees in 33 minutes, breaking the greenest Guinness World Record. Two years later, they broke their own record in Ladakh by planting another 100,000 trees.

Live to Love with its on-ground partner, YDA Ladakh, has planted more than 25,000 trees across Nubra, Changthang, Zanskar and other remote regions in Ladakh. Patches of once dry, barren land are now flourishing with greenery and life, providing shade, reducing temperature and retaining water.Live to Love is bringing about a new revolution with a mission to transform barren deserts to lush forests and cultivate sustainable ecosystems.

Join us in reforesting Ladakh, the Himalayas and the world.
